蜜桃视频 College of Law is proud to announce the annual Ainsworth Lecture, which will be held on Tuesday, October 21.聽This year鈥檚 lecture will begin at 6 pm in room 308 in the College of Law Building. Refreshments will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.聽

This year鈥檚 Ainsworth guest speaker is Georgetown University Law Center . His areas of expertise include the federal court system, the US Supreme Court, national security law, and military justice. He is the author of the New York Times best-seller, 鈥淭he Shadow Docket: How the Supreme Court Uses Stealth Rulings to Amass Power and Undermine the Republic.鈥 Vladeck also serves as CNN鈥檚 Supreme Court analyst and has argued before the Court numerous times.

Professor Vladeck's lecture is titled, "The Supreme Court We Need: Why the Court is Worth Saving - Especially from Itself." As the Supreme Court has become more and more of a lightning rod in American politics, calls to reduce the institution's power have grown louder. But as Professor Vladeck will demonstrate in his lecture, what makes the current Court different from its predecessors isn't the power it wields, but the accountability鈥攖o the other branches of government and the people鈥攖hat it lacks. As Vladeck will explain, restoring that accountability is not anathema to preservation of the Court's independence; it is essential.

The Ainsworth lecture is endowed by friends and admirers of the late Honorable Robert A. Ainsworth, Jr., who served as a judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
